Hiew Boon Thong Honored with Distinguished Professorship in Leadership and Management


 The American University of Business and Social Sciences (AUBSS) is proud to announce that Hiew Boon Thong has been awarded the esteemed Distinguished Professorship in Leadership and Management. This prestigious accolade is jointly conferred by AUBSS and the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE), recognizing his exceptional contributions to the fields of leadership and management.

 

Hiew Boon Thong’s distinguished career spans more than 36 years in the Royal Malaysian Police force, where he achieved the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). His exemplary service has been recognized with numerous awards, including Service Medals and the Excellent Service Award in 2008. Following his retirement, he successfully transitioned into the corporate world, serving as Managing Director for two well-respected oil palm companies, showcasing his business acumen and leadership capabilities.

 

In addition to his professional achievements, Hiew Boon Thong has made significant strides in community service. For over 40 years, he has been actively involved in organizing large-scale Buddhist events, such as the Buddha Day (Wesak Day) celebrations in Sabah. His leadership in founding and chairing multiple Buddhist associations has greatly enriched the spiritual landscape of the community.

 

Hiew Boon Thong’s commitment to education is underscored by his impressive academic credentials, which include two doctorate degrees and two Master’s degrees. He is currently pursuing a third Doctorate in Business Administration and a third Master’s in Buddhist Studies, exemplifying his dedication to lifelong learning and intellectual growth.

 

This Distinguished Professorship recognizes not only Hiew Boon Thong’s extensive experience and exceptional leadership qualities but also his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in society. His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring leaders and professionals dedicated to excellence in their fields.
